Age: Ridiculously young and inexperienced compared to a lot of the others in Kyuusho Kyusai - 56 in human years, though the amount of time spent in animal form has had an effect on his aging and he has never appeared any older than 24.
Race: Shapeshifter - Emerald Tree Boa
Physical Details: At a mere 5'4", Hitsugi is not the tallest of men in human form. Naturally very eccentric, his hair style and colour change constantly. He also has multiple piercings, which only attract more attention to him. But despite this, he's highly uncomfortable in human form, choosing to wear baggy clothes which cover pretty much all the skin he could be showing. Being well-practiced in shapeshifting, he likes to keep his eyes as they are in animal form, but he lacks the power to do so properly and keeping such a subtle detail intact doesn't always go too well - sometimes he will find himself covered in scales or with a forked tongue.
Personality:
Brought up to be both quiet and polite, Hitsugi's shyness only makes him appear even more withdrawn. He opens up among friends and those he knows well, but gaining his trust can be difficult. He's especially wary of vampires and was alarmed at the sheer number of them when he first came to Kyuusho Kyusai, but he's grown used to their presence, and will never pick a fight with one...not unless badly provoked at least. He feels far more at ease with other shapeshifters, regardless of what animal they are, and he's actually extremely friendly if treated the same way.
He spends as much time as possible in animal form, maybe just because he's an animal lover even as a human, but the sheer amount of time he spends in snake form has made him very prone to giving in to his instincts, and he often struggles to control them. Being a snake, he won't run and hide if he does find himself in a difficult situation, and even in verbal arguments, he won't back down - no matter how shy he can appear at first, he's a predator at heart and those who do try to pick on him because of how vulnerable he appears will probably have an unpleasant surprise waiting for them.
Background:
Hitsugi was raised in a what was apparently perfectly normal human community, but his family and closest friends were all shapeshifters themselves, and being born to two reptilian shapeshifter parents, he had little effort to make when it came to keeping any secrets about his identity for most of his school life. He came to be more comfortable in animal form than human, and was one of the few who was perfectly at ease about who and what he was while living among normal humans.
But during his final year of school, one of the younger shapeshifters made the grave mistake of going out in the open in animal form, and soon there were reports of sightings of rare animals in the news - as more and more people flocked to the area, the small community of shapeshifters became increasingly uneasy about the situation and in the end it was agreed for them all to go their seperate ways and try to adjust to a normal human life as best they could - his own family and friends were particularly fond of the idea.
Being so comfortable with himself, and having become more and more attached to his 'other side' as the years passed, Hitsugi left his family to join a very small group of likeminded shapeshifters who made the decision to seek refuge in Kyuusho Kyusai rather than try to make the transition to normal life - he didn't feel it was possible, nor did he want to.
